DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 — ARRIVAL IN CORON
Welcome to Coron — the "Utopia on the Sea"! Your Palm Tree Travel and Tours representative will meet you at Francisco B. Reyes Airport (Busuanga Airport) or at Coron Port, depending on your mode of arrival, and transfer you to your hotel in Coron Town for check-in. The rest of the day is entirely yours to enjoy at your own pace.
Coron Town is a charming and lively hub nestled between the sea and the limestone mountains of Busuanga Island. Wander the waterfront, browse the local restaurants and souvenir shops lining the main street, or simply sit at a café and watch the fishing boats navigate the calm harbor. For those with the energy, a short climb up the steps of Mt. Tapyas — Coron's iconic hilltop landmark — rewards you with a sweeping panoramic view over the town and surrounding islands, especially beautiful at sunset. Rest well tonight, because tomorrow is a full and extraordinary day on the water. Overnight in Coron.
DAY 2 — CORON ISLAND HOPPING TOUR A: KAYANGAN LAKE, GREEN LAGOON, QUIN REEF, ATWAYAN BEACH, CYC BEACH & LAS ISLAS DE CORAL
After breakfast, your guide collects you and takes you to the pier to board your boat for the first of two spectacular days on Coron Bay. Today's circuit — the classic Tour A — covers the destinations that have made Coron one of the most photographed and celebrated island destinations in the Philippines.
Your first and most iconic stop is Kayangan Lake, the jewel of Coron and widely regarded as the cleanest lake in the Philippines. Approached via a short climb up a limestone ridge that delivers a sweeping viewpoint over the bay, you descend to the lakeshore and step into water of extraordinary clarity and purity. Snorkel through a fascinating landscape of submerged rock formations in water so pristine it has an almost luminous quality. The towering limestone walls encircling the lake on all sides complete an experience that is, without question, one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines.
From Kayangan, your boat moves to the Green Lagoon — a shallow, enclosed body of water whose surface reflects the lush green of the surrounding limestone walls, creating a color unlike anything you will find anywhere else. Snorkel through its calm, clear depths or paddle a kayak across its mirror-still surface. Continue to Quin Reef (Malwawey Coral Garden), where a vibrant and extensive underwater garden of colorful corals and diverse marine life — schools of reef fish, sea urchins, and the occasional sea turtle — offers some of the finest snorkeling on the tour.
Next, your boat pulls up to the pristine shore of Atwayan Beach — a genuinely hidden gem of turquoise water, powdery white sand, and small bamboo huts that provide shade for a relaxed rest. CYC Beach follows: a beautiful stretch of white sand dotted with mangrove trees and dramatic rock formations, ideal for swimming, a leisurely sunbathe, or a quiet picnic lunch on the shore.
Your final stop of the day is Las Islas de Coral — a stunning snorkeling site where a dazzling reef ecosystem teems with colorful fish and scattered sea urchins in crystal-clear, shallow water. Fins are recommended here to navigate comfortably over the reef without disturbing it. Return to your hotel as the afternoon settles into a warm Coron evening. Overnight in Coron.
DAY 3 — CORON REEF AND WRECKS TOUR: PASS ISLAND, LUSONG CORAL GARDEN, LUSONG GUNBOAT & EAST TANGAT WRECK
After breakfast, your guide transfers you to the pier for today's adventure — a full-day tour out to the more distant but extraordinarily rewarding reef and shipwreck sites of Coron Bay. This is one of the most singular marine experiences available anywhere in Southeast Asia, combining world-class coral gardens with hauntingly beautiful underwater history.
A two-hour boat ride takes you to Pass Island, a small, immaculate tropical paradise off the Busuanga coast. With its long, soft stretch of white sand, swaying coconut palms, and calm secluded coves, Pass Island is the perfect place to relax, swim in the warm, clear water, and gather your energy for the afternoon's more adventurous activities.
From Pass Island, the tour ventures into the heart of Coron's famous WWII underwater heritage. Lusong Coral Garden (also known as Sangat Coral Garden) is the largest and most spectacular coral garden in Coron, its vast scale and extraordinary variety of coral species making it a world-class snorkeling destination in its own right. Directly beside it lies the Lusong Gunboat — a Japanese WWII vessel resting on its side at a depth of just 10 meters, making it one of the most accessible wreck snorkeling sites in the Philippines. Its hull is entirely encrusted with hard corals and circled by dense schools of reef fish, and the stern is visible from the surface during low tide.
The day's most powerful experience awaits at the East Tangat Wreck — a 40-meter Japanese wartime vessel that sank on September 24, 1944, when US Navy aircraft launched a surprise attack on the Imperial Japanese fleet in Coron Bay. It rests on a sandy slope with its stern at approximately 22 meters depth, its entire surface now colonized by an extraordinary ecosystem of hard corals, soft corals, and marine life. Snorkeling above it is both a humbling encounter with history and one of the most visually stunning underwater experiences in the Philippines. Return to Coron Town as the light softens over the bay. Overnight in Coron.
DAY 4 — DEPARTURE FROM CORON
After a final breakfast, check out of your hotel and prepare for your onward journey. Your Palm Tree Travel and Tours driver will transfer you to Francisco B. Reyes Airport or Coron Port in time for your departure.
If your flight or ferry does not depart until the afternoon, your guide can suggest ways to fill your remaining hours — a soak in the volcanic Maquinit Hot Spring (one of the world's rarest saltwater hot springs, available at an optional entrance fee), a final stroll along Coron Town's waterfront, or a quiet coffee overlooking the bay as the morning light plays across the limestone peaks. Coron is the kind of place that is very difficult to leave, and we sincerely hope it has made the impression on you that it makes on everyone who visits. Thank you for choosing Palm Tree Travel and Tours for your Coron adventure — we look forward to welcoming you back for your next journey through the Philippines. Safe travels!
